Restoring stone since 1998
27 years of experience
No dust created
Wet sanding, contained on site
Marble polishing, honing, sealing and repair — on site.
Marble, travertine, limestone, granite and terrazzo each respond differently to abrasives. We identify your stone type on site, test an out-of-the-way area, then specify the exact grinding, honing and polishing sequence your surface needs — no guesswork, and no work starts until you have seen the result.
- 01
Diamond grinding, honing & polishing
Marble polishing, honing, floor grinding & leveling
The core service. Diamond abrasives grind away the damaged layer of stone, then rebuild the surface through progressively finer passes to restore a deep, mirror-like shine. The same process flattens lippage between tiles and erases years of scratches from floors, countertops and vanities.
- 02
Stain, etch & water ring removal
Etch removal, water ring removal, stain lifting
Acid etching, water rings, wine and oil stains are ground out and blended back into the surrounding stone so the repair is invisible. For a matte look, we hone instead of polish — a low-sheen satin finish that hides etching and fingerprints in bathrooms, kitchens and busy entries.
- 03
Crack, chip & lippage repair
Crack and chip repair, color-matched epoxy and stone dust
Chipped edges, cracked corners and missing pieces are filled with color-matched epoxy and stone dust, then ground flush with the surrounding surface. The fill is blended into the veining so the damage disappears rather than sitting on top as a visible patch.
- 04
Impregnating sealer & care plan
Marble sealing and aftercare
A penetrating sealer is applied and buffed in to block spills from soaking into the stone. We walk the finished work with you and leave simple aftercare instructions so the finish holds for years.
- 05
Grout restoration & cleaning
Grout cleaning, grout restoration, tile and grout
Dirty, discoloured or failing grout lines are cleaned and restored so the joints match the finish of the stone they surround. Grout is where most floors and showers look tired first — restoring it alongside the stone is what makes the whole surface read as new rather than just the tiles.

All of Westchester County. Based right here in White Plains.
Westchester runs from the Bronx line up to the Putnam border, and the stone work changes as you move through it — dense pre-war housing in the south, larger estates and newer builds in the north. We cover the whole county from our White Plains office, and the same crews that assess your stone are the ones who restore it.
Southern Westchester
The older, denser half of the county — Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, Eastchester and the Sound Shore villages. A great deal of original marble here, in pre-war apartment lobbies, entry foyers, bathroom floors and stair treads that have been in place for decades. Much of what we restore in southern Westchester has never been refinished: etched from years of cleaning products, dulled by foot traffic, or lipped between tiles.
Central & Northern Westchester
White Plains and the towns north of it — larger properties, newer builds and a good deal of commercial stone in the downtown and office corridors. Larger floor plates mean phasing matters more here, and commercial work is normally scheduled around your opening hours. This is also where our office is, so it is the shortest drive of anywhere we cover.
Original marble in pre-war Westchester homes.
A large share of Westchester's housing went up in the 1920s and 1930s, and those houses were built with stone that is still there — marble entry foyers and thresholds, fireplace surrounds, bathroom floors and wainscoting, stair treads and landings, and kitchen counters. Eighty or ninety years on, that stone is usually etched, dulled or lipped rather than genuinely damaged. Restoration is almost always the better answer: replacing original marble means tearing it out and sourcing a match that rarely comes close to the character of the house you already have.
We assess the age and condition of the stone during the free on-site estimate and tell you honestly what the surface can achieve — including when the answer is that something should be left alone. If you own an older Westchester home and want the original stone brought back rather than replaced, call (844) 697-6277 and we will look at it at no charge.
Scarsdale
Pre-war homes with original marble foyers, thresholds, fireplace surrounds and bathroom stone — most of it dulled or etched from decades of cleaning products.
Bronxville
Village homes and apartment buildings where entry halls, stair treads and lobby floors carry heavy daily traffic and dull long before they break.
Rye & Rye Brook
A mix of older houses and larger properties — marble floors, kitchen countertops and bathroom stone, often alongside grout restoration.
Larchmont & Mamaroneck
Sound Shore homes with original marble vestibules and bathroom floors. Water ring and etch removal are the most frequent requests here.
White Plains
Downtown commercial stone — building and retail lobbies, office reception floors and restrooms, phased outside business hours so tenants stay open.
Tarrytown & the Rivertowns
Older river towns with marble entry halls and hearths, plus newer kitchen and bathroom stone needing sealing and repolishing.
Chappaqua & Armonk
Larger northern Westchester properties with extensive marble flooring, where floor grinding and leveling restores an even finish across the whole space.
New Rochelle & Pelham
Dense, older housing stock with a lot of original marble. Etched vanities, dulled floors and tired grout lines are the calls we get most often.
Yonkers & Mount Vernon
Pre-war apartment buildings where marble lobby floors and stair treads take constant traffic — restoring them is far cheaper than replacing.
Towns we work in across Westchester.
White Plains
Our home office is here, which makes White Plains the shortest drive we have. Commercial lobby and office stone downtown, plus residential marble across the surrounding neighborhoods.
Scarsdale
Large pre-war homes with original marble entry foyers, thresholds and fireplace surrounds. Much of what we restore here has never been refinished since the house was built.
New Rochelle
A mix of older homes and apartment buildings, where marble lobby floors and vanity tops take heavy daily traffic and dull long before they are damaged.
Rye
Marble floors, kitchen countersey and bathroom stone in established homes, plus commercial stone near the downtown and the waterfront.
Harrison
Larger properties with extensive marble flooring and countertops, where polishing and sealing are usually paired with grout restoration.
Mamaroneck
Sound Shore homes with original marble vestibules, bathroom floors and hearths — a good deal of it etched, water-ringed or dulled rather than broken.
Larchmont
Older village homes where marble entry halls, stair treads and bathroom stone respond well to honing and repolishing instead of replacement.
Tarrytown
Rivertown properties — marble foyers, kitchen counters and bathroom stone, plus commercial floors along Main Street and the Route 9 corridor.
Mount Kisco
Both residential floors and commercial stone in the northern county. Larger floor plates mean phasing matters more, so scheduling is agreed before work begins.

Marble Best is a specialist stone restoration company serving Westchester County, New York, with its office at 50 Main St, Suite 1000, White Plains, NY 10606. The company provides marble polishing, marble repair and marble restoration for homes and commercial properties, and has restored stone across the tri-state area since 1998.
The core service is diamond polishing, which uses a fine diamond abrasive to grind away the damaged layer of stone and rebuild the surface through progressively finer passes. Diamond polishing is a wet process: water runs continuously across the surface, so no dust is created and the property stays clean during the work. Other services include marble honing and matte finishes, stain and etch removal, water ring removal, crack and chip repair, floor grinding and leveling, and impregnating sealers.
The company works on marble, travertine, limestone, granite, onyx, terrazzo and concrete. Westchester customers receive a free on-site assessment and a written, fixed-price quote with the scope spelled out — there is no hourly billing and no obligation to book. Commercial stone work, including hotel and building lobbies, retail floors, offices, restaurants and bars, is normally phased overnight or outside operating hours so the business stays open.

Restoring Westchester stone for 27 years.
Marble Best has been restoring natural stone across the tri-state area since 1998, and Westchester is our home county — our office is in White Plains, and the stone here is a good deal of what we work on. From pre-war Scarsdale and Bronxville homes with original marble to newer builds in the northern towns, two-and-a-half decades in one trade is a specific kind of qualification: it is the accumulated judgement about how a particular stone will take a particular finish, which is not something a specification sheet can tell you.

Who does the best marble polishing in Westchester County?
Marble Best is a specialist stone restoration company — not a general cleaning service — that has restored stone across the tri-state area since 1998. We are based in White Plains and serve all of Westchester County, and we use our own crews and our own diamond grinding, honing and polishing equipment rather than subcontracting your job out. That matters on stone work, because the result depends on the operator's experience as much as the machine. Every technician we send is fully insured, and the same crew that assesses your stone is the one that restores it.
How much does marble polishing cost in Westchester County?
It depends on the square footage, the stone type, the finish you want, and how much damage has to come off before the polish goes on. A single vanity top and a large foyer floor in Scarsdale are very different jobs, so we don't quote either over the phone. Marble Best gives a fixed-price written quote after a free on-site assessment — the number you are quoted is the number you pay, with no hourly billing and no change orders partway through.
Do you handle commercial stone restoration in Westchester?
Yes. Alongside homes, Marble Best restores commercial stone across Westchester County — hotel and building lobbies, retail floors, offices, restaurants and bars. Westchester has a good deal of commercial stone in White Plains, Rye, Port Chester and along the I-287 and I-95 corridors. Commercial work is normally phased overnight or outside your operating hours so your business stays open, and we schedule it around your tenants and customers rather than the other way around.
How fast can Marble Best get to my property in Westchester?
For most properties in Westchester County, we can be on site within a few days of your call — and because our office is in White Plains, much of the county is a short drive. Estimates are turned around fast, and most jobs are scheduled and completed quickly once you approve the quote. Commercial work is often booked outside business hours, which can shift the start date by a day or two depending on the schedule you need.
What does the free estimate in Westchester actually cover?
An experienced technician comes to the property at no charge, identifies your stone type, inspects the etching, lippage and staining, and confirms what the surface can realistically achieve. You receive a written fixed-price quote with the scope spelled out. There is no obligation to book after the assessment, and no deposit is required to get the quote.
What is the difference between marble polishing and marble honing?
Both are diamond processes and both restore the stone — the difference is the finish they leave. Polishing takes the surface to a high, mirror-like shine. Honing stops at a lower grit for a matte, satin finish that reflects light softly rather than sharply. Marble Best offers both in Westchester, and the choice usually comes down to where the stone is: honed finishes are popular in bathrooms, kitchens and busy entries because they hide etching and fingerprints far better than a high polish. We confirm the finish you want on a test area before any large surface is committed to, so you approve the result before the bulk of the work starts.
Can Marble Best remove etching, water rings and stains from marble?
Yes — stain and etch removal is one of Marble Best's core services in Westchester. Acid etching, water rings, wine, oil and other staining are ground out and blended back into the surrounding stone so the repair is invisible rather than sitting on the surface as a patch. Etching is a dull mark where acid has eaten into the stone, and it cannot be wiped or cleaned away — but it can be ground out and repolished, which is what we do. We assess how deep the damage runs during the free on-site estimate and confirm what the surface can realistically achieve.
Do you repair cracked, chipped or broken marble?
Yes. Marble Best repairs cracks, chips, broken corners and missing pieces in marble, travertine and other natural stone in Westchester. The damage is filled with color-matched epoxy and stone dust, then ground flush with the surrounding surface and blended into the veining, so the repair disappears rather than reading as a visible patch. This is one of the most common reasons customers call us, and it is usually far less expensive than replacing the stone — replacement means tearing out and re-installing, which is slower, costlier, and rarely matches the surrounding floor or counter exactly.
Do you clean and restore grout as well as the stone?
Yes. Marble Best cleans and restores grout alongside the stone it surrounds. Grout lines are usually where a floor, shower or backsplash looks tired first — they discolour, hold dirt and can fail over time — and restoring them together with the stone is what makes the whole surface read as new rather than only the tiles. Grout work is quoted as part of the same fixed-price written estimate as the rest of the job.
Do you restore travertine, limestone, granite and terrazzo in Westchester?
Yes. Marble Best works on marble, travertine, limestone, granite, onyx, terrazzo and concrete. Each stone responds differently to abrasives, so the grinding, honing and polishing sequence is specified per stone type rather than applied generically. A technician identifies your stone during the free on-site assessment and confirms the finish it can realistically take before any work begins.
Can Marble Best flatten uneven tiles and remove lippage on a marble floor?
Yes. Floor grinding and leveling is one of Marble Best's services in Westchester. Lippage is the height difference between adjacent tiles — it catches light, collects dirt and makes a floor feel uneven underfoot. We grind the surface flat across the affected area, then hone and polish so the floor is level and the finish is uniform, without replacing the stone. This is common in older Westchester homes where floors have settled over decades.
Is marble polishing a dusty process?
No. Marble Best uses a wet process — water runs continuously across the surface while the diamond abrasives work, which means no dust is created and the property stays clean during the job. There is no dry grinding and no cloud of stone dust to settle through your home or building. It also means the work is safe to carry out in occupied properties, including commercial spaces that stay open.
Does Marble Best seal marble after restoring it?
Yes. An impregnating sealer is applied and buffed in as the final stage of the work. A penetrating sealer soaks into the stone rather than sitting on top of it, and blocks spills from soaking in — which is what gives you working time to wipe a spill up before it becomes an oil stain or a water ring. Marble Best walks the finished work with you and leaves simple aftercare instructions so the finish holds for years. Sealing is included in the fixed-price written quote rather than added as an extra.
Do you work on pre-war and older Westchester homes?
Yes, and a great deal of our Westchester work is exactly that. Older homes in Scarsdale, Bronxville, Rye, Larchmont, Pelham and Tuckahoe frequently have original marble — entry foyers, fireplaces, thresholds, bathroom floors and stair treads — that is decades old and has never been refinished. Stone that age is usually etched, dulled or lipped rather than genuinely damaged, and restoration brings it back far more sympathetically than replacement would. Replacing original marble means tearing it out and finding a match that almost never comes close to the original stone; restoring it keeps the character of the house intact. We assess the age and condition of the stone during the free on-site estimate and tell you honestly what the surface can achieve.
Does Marble Best serve the Rivertowns and northern Westchester?
Yes. Marble Best covers the full county, which includes the Rivertowns — Tarrytown, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Sleepy Hollow and Croton-on-Hudson — and northern Westchester, including Armonk, Bedford, Chappaqua, Katonah, Mount Kisco, Pleasantville, Briarcliff Manor and Ossining. Our office is in White Plains, so these are regular drives for us rather than an out-of-area call. Call (844) 697-6277 for a free on-site assessment.
