Marble Polishing

Diamond polishing uses a fine diamond abrasive to grind away the damaged layer of stone — the scratches, etch marks and dulling that cleaners and foot traffic leave behind — then builds the shine back up through progressively finer passes. It is a wet process: water runs continuously across the surface, so no dust is created and your home stays clean.

  • Mirror-gloss finish
  • Removes surface haze
  • Wet process — no dust

Honing & Matte Finishes

A soft, low-sheen finish that hides etching and fingerprints — ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and busy entries.

Stain & Etch Removal

Acid etching, water rings and oil stains are ground out and blended so the repair is invisible to the eye.

Crack & Chip Repair

Color-matched epoxy and stone dust fill cracks, chips and missing corners so damage disappears into the veining.

Impregnating Sealers

Penetrating sealers block spills from soaking into the stone — critical for kitchens, bars and high-traffic floors.

Floor Grinding & Leveling

We flatten lippage between tiles and remove deep scratches across large floors without replacing the stone.

What We Do

Marble polishing, honing, sealing and repair — on site.

Marble, travertine, limestone, granite and terrazzo each respond differently to abrasives. We identify your stone type on site, test an out-of-the-way area, then specify the exact grinding, honing and polishing sequence your surface needs — no guesswork, and no work starts until you have seen the result.

  1. 01

    Diamond grinding, honing & polishing

Marble polishing, honing, floor grinding & leveling

The core service. Diamond abrasives grind away the damaged layer of stone, then rebuild the surface through progressively finer passes to restore a deep, mirror-like shine. The same process flattens lippage between tiles and erases years of scratches from floors, countertops and vanities.

  2. 02

Stain, etch & water ring removal

Etch removal, water ring removal, stain lifting

Acid etching, water rings, wine and oil stains are ground out and blended back into the surrounding stone so the repair is invisible. For a matte look, we hone instead of polish — a low-sheen satin finish that hides etching and fingerprints in bathrooms, kitchens and busy entries.

  3. 03

    Crack, chip & lippage repair

Crack and chip repair, color-matched epoxy and stone dust

Chipped edges, cracked corners and missing pieces are filled with color-matched epoxy and stone dust, then ground flush with the surrounding surface. The fill is blended into the veining so the damage disappears rather than sitting on top as a visible patch.

  4. 04

    Impregnating sealer & care plan

    Marble sealing and aftercare

A penetrating sealer is applied and buffed in to block spills from soaking into the stone. We walk the finished work with you and leave simple aftercare instructions so the finish holds for years.

About Marble Best

Best marble repair and best marble polishing in the tri-state area.

Marble Best is a specialist stone restoration company — not a general cleaning service — providing marble polishing, marble repair and marble restoration for homes and commercial properties. The company has restored stone across the tri-state area for 27 years — since 1998 — and works on marble, travertine, limestone, granite, onyx, terrazzo and concrete.

The core service is diamond polishing, which uses a fine diamond abrasive to grind away the damaged layer of stone and rebuild the surface through progressively finer passes. Diamond polishing is a wet process: water runs continuously across the surface, so no dust is created and the property stays clean during the work. Other services include marble honing and matte finishes, stain and etch removal, water ring removal, crack and chip repair, floor grinding and leveling, and impregnating sealers.

Marble Best serves New York City and the surrounding metro area, Long Island, including Nassau County and Suffolk County, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Residential work covers countertops, vanities, bathrooms, staircases and floors. Commercial work covers building and hotel lobbies, retail floors, offices, restaurants and bars, and is normally phased overnight or outside business hours so the space stays open.

Every job starts with a free on-site assessment: a technician identifies the stone type, inspects the etching, lippage and staining, and tests a small area so the customer sees the achievable finish first. Customers then receive a written, fixed-price quote — there is no hourly billing, no change orders partway through, and no obligation to book. Estimates are turned around fast, with no dust created on site.

Since 1998

Twenty-seven years of stone.

Marble Best has been restoring natural stone across the tri-state area since 1998. In that time the trade has changed considerably — abrasives have improved, sealers have improved, and a great deal of what our competitors now call restoration did not exist as a service in this market when we started.

What has not changed is that stone is unpredictable. Two surfaces that look identical can take a finish differently, and no specification tells you that in advance. That judgement only comes from having ground the same stone hundreds of times — which is the thing 27 years actually buys.

Why a specialist, not a cleaner

General cleaners work on the surface of the stone. We work on the stone itself — diamond abrasives remove the damaged layer and the surface is rebuilt, then sealed. It is a materially different process, and it is the difference between a floor looking clean and a floor looking new.

Our own crews, not subcontractors

We use our own crews and our own diamond grinding, honing and polishing equipment. On stone work the result depends on the operator's experience as much as the machine, so who is holding the tool matters — and the crew that assesses your stone is the one that restores it.

Wet process, no dust

Diamond polishing is a wet process — water runs continuously across the surface while the abrasives work. No dry grinding, no airborne stone dust, and the property stays clean. It is what makes the work practical in an occupied home or a business that stays open.

Fixed price, in writing

Every job is quoted as a fixed price in writing after a free on-site assessment, with the scope spelled out. No hourly billing and no change orders partway through — the number you are quoted is the number you pay.

Common Questions

What customers ask before they hire us.

Straight answers on cost, timing, coverage and what the assessment includes. If your question isn't here, call (844) 697-6277 and we'll answer it directly.

How much does marble polishing cost?

It depends on the square footage, the stone type, the finish you want, and how much damage has to come off before the polish goes on. A single vanity top and a 500-square-foot lobby floor are very different jobs, so we don't quote either one over the phone. Marble Best gives a fixed-price written quote after a free on-site assessment — the number you are quoted is the number you pay, with no hourly billing and no change orders partway through.

Is it cheaper to repair my marble or replace it?

Repair is almost always the lower-cost option, and in most cases it is also the better result. Replacement means tearing out and re-installing stone, which is slower, far more expensive, and rarely matches the surrounding floor or counter exactly. Marble Best restores the surface you already have, so the finish stays uniform with the stone around it. If replacement genuinely is the right call for your property, we will tell you so at the assessment rather than sell you work you don't need.

How fast can Marble Best give me an estimate and get the work done?

For most properties inside our service area, we can be on site within a few days of your call. Estimates are turned around fast, and most jobs are scheduled and completed quickly once you approve the quote. Commercial work is often booked outside business hours so your space stays open, which can shift the start date by a day or two depending on the schedule you need.

How long will the work take, and will I have to leave?

A residential countertop, vanity or bathroom is typically finished in a single visit. A residential floor usually takes one to two days depending on square footage and finish. You do not need to leave the property. Commercial floors and lobbies are usually completed in phases so the space stays usable throughout, and we agree the schedule with you before any work begins.

Do you handle commercial properties or only homes?

Marble Best does both. We work in homes, and we also handle commercial stone — building and hotel lobbies, retail floors, offices, restaurants and bars. Commercial work is normally phased overnight or outside your operating hours so your business stays open, and we schedule it around your tenants and customers rather than the other way around.

Can you match the finish on stone that's already there?

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons customers call us. Matching an existing polished or honed finish on older or unusual stone is routine work for our crews. We confirm the match on an out-of-the-way area first so you can see the result before any large surface is committed to. That way you approve the finish before the bulk of the work starts.

What areas does Marble Best serve?

Marble Best serves New York City and the surrounding metro area, Long Island including Nassau and Suffolk County, New Jersey, and Connecticut. If your property falls inside that footprint, we can normally be on site within a few days of your call. Not sure whether you are in range? Call (844) 697-6277 and we will confirm on the spot.

Does Marble Best bring its own equipment and crew?

Yes. We use our own crews and our own diamond grinding, honing and polishing equipment — we don't subcontract your job out. That matters on stone work, because the result depends on the operator's experience as much as the machine. Every technician we send is fully insured, and the same crew that assesses your stone is the one that restores it.

What does the free estimate actually cover?

An experienced technician comes to the property at no charge, identifies your stone type, inspects the etching, lippage and staining, and confirms what the surface can realistically achieve. You receive a written fixed-price quote with the scope spelled out. There is no obligation to book after the assessment, and no deposit is required to get the quote.

Why hire Marble Best instead of a general cleaning company?

General cleaners work on the surface of the stone. Marble Best restores the stone itself. We use diamond abrasives to remove the damaged layer and bring the finish back, then apply an impregnating sealer — the same process used on commercial stone. With 27 years restoring stone across the tri-state area, since 1998, we are a specialist restoration company, not a cleaning service that also offers polishing.

What is the difference between marble polishing and marble honing?

Both are diamond processes and both restore the stone — the difference is the finish they leave. Polishing takes the surface to a high, mirror-like shine. Honing stops at a lower grit for a matte, satin finish that reflects light softly rather than sharply. Marble Best offers both, and the choice usually comes down to where the stone is: honed finishes are popular in bathrooms, kitchens and busy entries because they hide etching and fingerprints far better than a high polish. We confirm the finish you want on a test area before any large surface is committed to, so you approve the result before the bulk of the work starts.

Can Marble Best remove etching, water rings and stains from marble?

Yes — stain and etch removal is one of Marble Best's core services. Acid etching, water rings, wine, oil and other staining are ground out and blended back into the surrounding stone so the repair is invisible rather than sitting on the surface as a patch. Etching is a dull mark where acid has eaten into the stone, and it cannot be wiped or cleaned away — but it can be ground out and repolished, which is what we do. We assess how deep the damage runs during the free on-site estimate and confirm what the surface can realistically achieve.

Do you repair cracked, chipped or broken marble?

Yes. Marble Best repairs cracks, chips, broken corners and missing pieces in marble, travertine and other natural stone. The damage is filled with color-matched epoxy and stone dust, then ground flush with the surrounding surface and blended into the veining, so the repair disappears rather than reading as a visible patch. This is one of the most common reasons customers call us, and it is usually far less expensive than replacing the stone — replacement means tearing out and re-installing, which is slower, costlier, and rarely matches the surrounding floor or counter exactly.

Do you clean and restore grout as well as the stone?

Yes. Marble Best cleans and restores grout alongside the stone it surrounds. Grout lines are usually where a floor, shower or backsplash looks tired first — they discolour, hold dirt and can fail over time — and restoring them together with the stone is what makes the whole surface read as new rather than only the tiles. Grout work is quoted as part of the same fixed-price written estimate as the rest of the job.

Do you restore travertine, limestone, granite and terrazzo?

Yes. Marble Best works on marble, travertine, limestone, granite, onyx, terrazzo and concrete. Each stone responds differently to abrasives, so the grinding, honing and polishing sequence is specified per stone type rather than applied generically. A technician identifies your stone during the free on-site assessment and confirms the finish it can realistically take before any work begins.

Can Marble Best flatten uneven tiles and remove lippage on a marble floor?

Yes. Floor grinding and leveling is one of Marble Best's services. Lippage is the height difference between adjacent tiles — it catches light, collects dirt and makes a floor feel uneven underfoot. We grind the surface flat across the affected area, then hone and polish so the floor is level and the finish is uniform, without replacing the stone.

Is marble polishing a dusty process?

No. Marble Best uses a wet process — water runs continuously across the surface while the diamond abrasives work, which means no dust is created and the property stays clean during the job. There is no dry grinding and no cloud of stone dust to settle through your home or building. It also means the work is safe to carry out in occupied properties, including commercial spaces that stay open.

Does Marble Best seal marble after restoring it?

Yes. An impregnating sealer is applied and buffed in as the final stage of the work. A penetrating sealer soaks into the stone rather than sitting on top of it, and blocks spills from soaking in — which is what gives you working time to wipe a spill up before it becomes an oil stain or a water ring. Marble Best walks the finished work with you and leaves simple aftercare instructions so the finish holds for years. Sealing is included in the fixed-price written quote rather than added as an extra.
